In the Japanese panel mechanism, sheets of curtain cloth slide parallel to each other on an aluminium rail and cover the window. When the mechanism is tucked in, all sheets are hidden behind the 1st one which does not move.

The curtain is attached to the rail with Velkron.

For very big lengths we can have two mechanisms operating on the same rail with cords on both sides.
